First of all let me start off by saying that I am sad I haven’t been keeping up with my blog. School got busy going through finals and I am getting ready to start an internship, but for now I am back!
As stated in previous posts, we have two puppies, Buddy being the oldest. A couple days ago, we decided to take the boys to the dog park, and after playing at the dog park for two hours we remembered that it was doggy night out at Ritters ice cream, so of course we had to go
. Once we got done with the ice cream and went home and the boys immediately passed out. Aron and I still hadn’t had dinner yet so we had to leave the boys to go out. Well when we leave the house/go to bed Tressel (the younger dog) stays out and doesn’t mess with anything. Up to this point Buddy (the older dog) had always been in his crate, not to be trusted. Well for some reason this night we decided that they were both exhausted and we should leave Buddy out too. We put up a baby gate so that they would only be in the bedroom just in case, we tried to put everything that he might get to away, and we left.
Well we went to dinner and ran a couple errands…not taking more than two hours. We came back home looked in the bedroom…and it looked as if a lawn mower had gone through the room TWICE. Everything from DVD cases to magazines to the bed cusion was torn up. EVERYTHING that was in his reach and even out of his reach he just had to taste.
At this point we weren’t sure what to do, you cant yell at him or punish him, we had brought it on ourselves. The best we could do was clean it up, be thankful that we didn’t leave him to rome to house, and vow to never leave him out again!! I would have LOVED to have a video of this incident, what made him tear up the room and how long was he good before it happend…guess we will never know
Any other horror stories out there…or how about horror stories that are now able to be left out??

The same thing happened to us after we adopted our beagle, Bailey. She was about nine months old when we got her and I must confess, we were pretty ignorant in the ways of bringing up a dog.
She had the run of the house a few times and tore it to shreds. Paperback book bits were everywhere, jewel cases torn up, shoes shredded, and the couch had chunks torn out of it. Oh, and she also climbed on top of the kitchen table to eat a box of chocolate covered walnuts.
After that incident, we bought a cage and kept her in it whenever we had to go out for long periods of time.
My two dogs, APBT & AmStaff, have managed to eat everything also. I take blame for it after the first few times…you think I’d learn! They are so curious and love to chew…what a funny breed!
Mine don’t have separation anxiety, they just get bored. So far they have eaten or chewed on countless shoes, clothes, books, couches, remotes, computer speakers, toys, etc. The funniest thing was finding my puppy APBT chewing like a human eating…before opening his mouth I could smell mint…he actually found a discarded piece of gum & chewed it! Hilarious! Gotta’ love them!
I can’t help but laugh, only because we have been there and done that with our pits and boxers. My kids could never leave their Barbies out otherwise we would come home to a massacre of plastic body parts scattered over the house. LOL.
Our Gonzo has chewed just about everything there is in the house, including window sills, a recliner and grandfather clock. Yes, I said grandfather clock. Apparently they taste pretty good. He devours Kongs like they are candy.
Yeah, Kongs are ridiculous…they can’t stop a Pit! So funny!
Hilarious!! I know he tore up lots of your belongings but you just have to laugh because he didn’t know any better. This happened to me a lot with an Amstaff we had. When we first got him we left him alone for maybe an hour. Came home to find the arm of the couch torn up and cotton everywhere. Another time he knocked down the baby gate and got into our living room. Tore everything up he could find. The funny thing about it is he tore open a brand new package of toilet paper and shit on it LOL. We found out he had separation anxiety
Poor thing. We learned to gate him in the kitchen on tile and he was good in there other than peeing. I’ve got so many stories I could go o forever.
My Buddy has a thing with ripping the smallest hole in his toy and gutting all the stuffing out of it! He only does this when he is with his best friend maddie (my parents Border Collie). The worst is that he has horrible seperation anxiety and if we leave our bedroom door open he will pee on our bed!!! Needless to say he is not trusted anymore and all bedroom doors are closed before we leave! We can’t get mad a him though, he is only bad because he misses us.
You forgot to mention that we put every toy we owned in my bedroom with Buddy, and he chewed everything but the toys!
